The article is one more sample of the collaborations between the Catholic hierarchy and the rulers of the country, in the particular case of the support that the Catholic leadership gave to the electoral elections and the established order. This shows that the secularization process that was tried to carry out in Costa Rica was not one of rupture and distancing between the two powers, but something more complex and unique. The proposed study was carried out thanks to the qualitative analysis of the sources consulted from the various Vatican archives, ecclesiastical archives of San José and Alajuela and the National Library. Este artículo explica cómo el comportamiento del clero costarricense y las acciones realizadas por la Santa Sede, en torno a los procesos político-electorales, fueron un factor legitimador del orden establecido en Costa Rica entre 1921 y 1936. El artículo es una muestra más de las colaboraciones entre la jerarquía católica y los gobernantes del país, en el caso particular del sostén que la cúpula católica dio a los comicios y al orden imperante. Ello demuestra que el proceso de secularización que se procuró llevar adelante en Costa Rica no fue de ruptura y distanciamiento entre ambos poderes, sino algo más complejo y particular. En el estudio propuesto se realizó el análisis cualitativo de las fuentes consultadas de los diversos archivos vaticanos, archivos eclesiásticos de San José y Alajuela y Biblioteca Nacional. Este artigo explica como o comportamento do clero costarriquenho e a atuação da Santa Sé em relação aos processos político-eleitorais foram um fator de legitimação da ordem estabelecida na Costa Rica entre 1921 e 1936. O artigo é mais uma amostra das colaborações entre a hierarquia católica e os governantes do país, no caso particular do apoio que a direção católica deu às eleições eleitorais e à ordem vigente. Isso mostra que o processo de secularização que se tentou realizar na Costa Rica não foi de ruptura e distanciamento entre os dois poderes, mas algo mais complexo e particular. O estudo proposto foi realizado graças à análise qualitativa das fontes consultadas dos diversos arquivos vaticanos, dos arquivos eclesiásticos de San José e Alajuela e da Biblioteca Nacional.
