Implementing a quantitative method based on data collection and analysis made it evident that, during the last two decades, a rapid advance of the agricultural frontier for corporate agricultural and livestock production occurred. This advance resulted in the occupation of territories that, towards the end of the 20th century, were still considered marginal. Furthermore, to cause most changes in land use in the territory, deforestation increased in significant land areas; this allowed inferring that running capitalist agribusiness implied the destruction of a large part of the native forest. Consequently, the territory underwent important transformations due to a productivist model that triggered land concentration and a tendency to disarticulate Family agricultura. En este artículo se indagó sobre las transformaciones tanto en el ámbito forestal como agropecuario que han ocurrido en el este de la provincia de Salta, Argentina, (región conocida como Chaco Salteño) entre los años 2000 y 2021. A través de un método cuantitativo basado en la recopilación y análisis de datos, se evidenció que durante las últimas dos décadas existió un rápido avance de la frontera agropecuaria para la producción agrícola y ganadera empresarial, lo que devino en la ocupación de territorios que, hacia fines de siglo XX, todavía eran considerados marginales. Para efectuar gran parte de los cambios en el uso del suelo en dicho territorio, se incrementó la deforestación en importantes extensiones de tierras, lo que permitió entrever que el agronegocio capitalista se llevó adelante a expensas de la destrucción de gran parte del bosque nativo, ocasionando importantes transformaciones en el territorio a causa de un modelo productivista que originó concentración de la tierra y una tendencia a desarticular la agricultura familiar. Este artigo indagou sobre as transformações no campo florestal e agrícola que ocorreram no leste da província de Salta, Argentina, (região conhecida como Chaco Salteño) entre os anos 2000 e 2021. Por meio de um método quantitativo baseado em na coleção e análise dos dados, constatou-se que nas duas últimas décadas houve um rápido avanço da fronteira agrícola para a produção agropecuária empresarial, o que levou à ocupação de territórios que, no final do século XX, ainda eram considerados marginal. Para realizar grande parte das mudanças de uso da terra no referido território, o desmatamento aumentou em importantes extensões de terra, o que nos permitiu vislumbrar que o agronegócio capitalista foi realizado às custas da destruição de grande parte da floresta nativa, provocando importantes transformações no território devido a um modelo produtivista que originou a concentração fundiária e uma tendência ao desmonte da agricultura familiar.
