The objective of this essay is to relate the contributions of spatial turn and urban spatiality in the socio-spatial construction of places. The traditional conceptualization of space refers to the positivist conception of abstract space, which is transformed in the context of globalization that is accompanied by an epistemological transition. This is where the "spatial turn" proposes a new interpretation of urban spatiality from an interdisciplinary perspective that integrates the material and immaterial dimensions of space and the ways in which they become places. The construction of the place is elaborated from socio-spatial practices and spatial subjectivity; the first refers to the ways of inhabiting the city according to daily activities and the second is understood in social terms and the feelings towards the environment in dialogue between the place and the social actors. El objetivo de este ensayo consiste en relacionar los aportes del giro espacial y la espacialidad urbana en la construcción socio espacial de los lugares. La conceptualización tradicional de espacio alude a la concepción positivista del espacio abstracto, la cual se transforma en el contexto de la globalización que viene acompañada de una transición epistemológica. Es aquí donde el “giro espacial” plantea una nueva interpretación de la espacialidad urbana desde una perspectiva interdisciplinaria que integra las dimensiones materiales e inmateriales del espacio y las formas en que estos devienen en lugares. La construcción del lugar está elaborada a partir de las prácticas socio-espaciales y la subjetividad espacial; las primeras remiten a las formas de habitar la ciudad de acuerdo a las actividades cotidianas y la segunda está entendida en términos sociales y los sentimientos hacia el entorno en diálogo entre el lugar y los actores sociales.
