Our interest is to try to define –as far as it is possible– the technique of Eustathius in relation to the role and the function of these historical passages in his byzantine commentary on the book VI of the Iliad. L’objectif de cet article est de montrer comment Eustathe de Thessalonique, le commentateur byzantin du XIIe siècle, intègre, cite et traite les sources historiques d'Hérodote dans son Commentaire au chant VI de l'Iliade ; pour quelles raisons il évoque l'historien et quels sont les moyens qu'il utilise constamment pour les intégrer dans son commentaire. Notre intérêt est d’essayer de définir - autant qu’il est possible-la technique d’Eustathe par rapport au rôle et à la fonction de ces passages historiques dans son commentaire byzantin au chant VI de l’Iliade.
