Based on the information provided by Plutarch (Mor. 328d, Alex. 8.2-3, Alex. 72.1 y Crass. 33.2) and Philostratus (V A 2.32), the expansion of Hellenism throughout Central Asia is proposed as the ideal scenario for the occurrence of said influence. Against other similar proposals (Windisch, Reich, Free, Walker), it is concluded that the influence, if it did happen, would have been largely mediated by the plays of Euripides. El artículo retoma a hipótesis de la influencia griega en el teatro sánscrito, formulada, por primera vez, por Weber. A partir de la información brindada por Plutarco (Mor. 328d, Alex. 8.2-3, Alex. 72.1 y Crass. 33.2) y Filóstrato (V A 2.32), se propone la expansión del helenismo griego por Asia Central como el escenario idóneo para la concreción de dicha influencia. Frente a otras propuestas similares (Windisch, Reich, Free, Walker), se concluye que la influencia, de haber ocurrido, habría estado determinada, en gran medida, por las obras de Eurípides.
