Emphasis is placed on in corporating technology as an integral part of the activities of the tutors in their work sessions, while rescuing the linguistic importance of diagnosis as the first step to the design of a customized curriculum content. The paper also introduces how to develop a virtual mentoring platform with in theuniversity, drawing on the experience of the authors, as coordinators of programs of Spanish as a Foreign Language at Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica En el presente documento se describen tres distintas modalidades de tutorías académicas que suelen acompañar el currículo de los programas de E/LE, con el propósito de resaltar su contribución en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de los estudiantes que viajan a otro país para aprender español in situ. Se hace énfasis en la incorporación de la tecnología como parte integral de las actividades que realizan los tutores en sus sesiones de trabajo y se rescata la importancia del diagnóstico lingüístico como el paso previo al diseño curricular personalizadodel contenido de dichas sesiones. Se introducen, además algunas generalidades sobre la forma de desarrollar una tutoría virtual dentro de la plataforma de una universidad, partiendo de la experiencia de las autoras, como coordinadoras de programas de E/LE en la Universidad Nacional en Costa Rica.
