To accomplish this, a precision of concepts that separate the surroundings from the notions of space, environment, and territory is made. Moreover, an approximation to the role of Bourdieu’s habitus in the development of learning is carried out so that this can then be linked to the opportunities offered by the surroundings, through exploration and experimentation, according to the theoretical and practical contributions of authors, such as Acuña and Roselli among others, who identify its relationship to critical thinking. In this reflection, learning is understood as both that which occurs through the formal structures of the “school” and that which takes place informally, in daily life and extra-academic contexts for the purpose of identifying the implications of the surroundings on the teaching and learning processes. El entorno es uno de los elementos que permean el proceso de aprendizaje, por lo que este ensayo busca la visualización de ese estímulo externo en los procesos cognitivos por medio del análisis bibliográfico de fuentes que lo evidencian, esto bajo los criterios de criticidad y racionalidad. Se elabora una precisión de conceptos que separan al entorno de los términos espacio, medio ambiente y territorio. Asimismo, se realiza un acercamiento al papel del habitus de Bourdieu en la formación del aprendizaje, para que, luego, sea vinculado a las oportunidades ofrecidas por el entorno, desde la exploración y la experimentación, según los aportes teórico-prácticos de autores como Acuña, Roselli, entre otros, que identifican su relación con el pensamiento crítico. En esta reflexión se toma como aprendizaje a aquel realizado mediante las estructuras formales de la “escuela” junto con el otro hecho por la informalidad, lo cotidiano y extraacadémico, para la identificación de implicaciones del entorno en los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje.
