The information gathered shows that the competence in using these tools was very poor due to the students’ not having enough knowledge at the beginning of the semester. Also, the access to ICTs and LKTs was limited because of different factors that tend to happen in rural areas; therefore, it is necessary to work on trainings and the accessibility to these devices in the Brunca Region. However, the ICTs and LKTs were important to the learning and teaching process of these students because the results show that without these tools, the access to the lessons would not have been possible nor the development of the four linguistic skills of the English language. Este artículo de investigación cualitativa surge debido a la realidad de los estudiantes de primer ingreso de la carrera del Bachillerato en la Enseñanza del Inglés, en la Universidad Nacional, Campus Coto de la Región Brunca durante el 2021 en presencialidad remota, con respecto a la accesibilidad, nivel de conocimiento, e importancia que tuvieron las herramientas de la tecnología de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) y las herramientas de la Tecnología de Aprendizaje y Conocimiento (TAC). Se evidencia que, el acceso a las TIC y TAC se vio limitado debido a distintos factores presentes en zonas rurales, por lo que es necesario trabajar en el acceso de estas herramientas en la Región Brunca. También, se evidencia la poca competencia en cuanto al uso de las TIC y TAC debido a que los estudiantes no contaban con el nivel de conocimiento adecuado al principio del curso lectivo. Sin embargo, estas herramientas fueron importantes en el proceso de aprendizaje y enseñanza de estos estudiantes, ya que los resultados demuestran que sin el uso de estas herramientas el acceso a las clases no hubiese sido posible ni tampoco el desarrollo de las cuatro habilidades lingüísticas del idioma inglés.
