The type of investigation was developed from a qualitative approach and the hermeneutic-dialectic method. The triangulation was applied for the analysis of the results to interpret the collected data of the Complexity theory, the educational policy, and the gathered data of the interviewed applied to the management person. Among the major results, it can be emphasized that the principal broadly implements the complexity paradigm although he does not know the concept. The less congruent point was identified during the interdisciplinary work although it was concluded that this does not necessarily depend on the administrative labor; therefore, among the recommendations to principal of the school, it was encouraged to request training and to promote and create spaces for the articulated job among the different disciplines of the institution. Regarding the Ministry of Public Education (MEP in Spanish), it is suggested to reorganize the national curriculum more integrally and to reformulate the programs in a more transdisciplinary articulation. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo general analizar la implementación del paradigma de la complejidad que propone la Política Educativa de Costa Rica, en la gestión de una escuela pública en el cantón de Belén, Heredia. El tipo de investigación se desarrolló desde un enfoque cualitativo y el método que se utilizó fue el hermenéutico-dialéctico. En el análisis de los resultados se aplicó la triangulación para interpretar los datos recopilados de la teoría de la complejidad, la Política Educativa y la información obtenida de las entrevistas a la persona directiva. Dentro de los principales resultados, se destaca que la persona directiva implementa, grosso modo, el paradigma de la complejidad, aunque desconozca el concepto; el punto de menos congruencia que se identificó fue el trabajo transdisciplinario; sin embargo, se concluyó que este no necesariamente depende de la labor administrativa, por lo tanto, entre las recomendaciones al directivo del centro escolar, se instó a solicitar capacitación y a promover y generar espacios para el trabajo articulado entre las distintas disciplinas de la institución; y, en cuanto al Ministerio de Educación Pública de Costa Rica (MEP), se sugiere reorganizar el currículo nacional de forma más integral y reformular los programas de enseñanza a partir de una articulación transdisciplinaria.
