The method consisted of a documentary review of 34 files which comprise undergraduate, master's, and doctorate theses, and published scientific articles. The analysis of the information was carried out under a documentary matrix that contrasted the data in relation with two study categories: 1) Bullying as a scientific interest and 2) Consequences generated by bullying in school age. The main result shows that bullying causes low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, poor school performance and somatic symptoms in the victims, which, if not treated in a timely manner at school and with the family, may result in the removal of the student from the institution denying them the right to education, or they could cause a most serious problem, suicide. As a conclusion, it is highlighted that bullying is triggered in a slow and tortuous process, which becomes more acute over time; it is the reason why care routes are necessary to tackle the problem from its first manifestations. El presente artículo comparte los resultados de un estado de conocimiento en torno a las consecuencias que genera el bullying en la formación de estudiantes en edad escolar, según estudios desarrollados en América Latina entre 2010–2021. El método consistió en una revisión documental de 34 fuentes dentro de las cuales se encuentran tesis de pregrado, maestría, doctorado y artículos científicos publicados. El análisis de la información se realizó bajo una matriz documental que contrastó los datos en relación con dos categorías de estudio: 1) El bullying como interés científico y 2) Consecuencias que genera el bullying en edad escolar. Dentro de los principales resultados se destaca que el acoso escolar produce en los sujetos victimarios baja autoestima, depresión, ansiedad, bajo rendimiento escolar y síntomas somáticos que, si no se tratan oportunamente en la escuela y en la familia, provocan el retiro de la persona estudiante de la institución, negándole el derecho a la educación o, en su caso más grave, el suicidio. Como conclusión, se destaca que el bullying se desencadena en un proceso lento y tortuoso, el cual se va agudizando con el tiempo; es por esa razón que se hacen necesarias rutas de atención para atacar la problemática desde sus primeras manifestaciones.
