For this, the contributions of Edgar Morin and Basarab Nicolescu are taken as references. In a first instance, relevant aspects of their proposals are presented such as the concepts of complexity, complex thinking, differences among the concepts of transdisciplinarity, interdisciplinarity and pluridisciplinarity, the levels of reality, and the logic of the included middle, exemplified by non-Euclidean geometries. In a second instance, the interrelation between the concepts of complexity and transdisciplinarity is shown, taking the work of Morin and Nicolescu as a base. In addition, the implications of transdisciplinary approaches and complex thinking in teaching-learning processes are explored in the educational context. Finally, we reflect on the need to move from simple to complex thinking and how transdisciplinarity can help to improve educational processes. Este ensayo pretende brindar una reflexión sobre la importancia que tiene el pensamiento complejo y la transdisciplinariedad en el ámbito educativo. Para ello, se toma como referentes los aportes de Edgar Morin y a Basarab Nicolescu. En una primera instancia se exponen aspectos relevantes de sus propuestas como los conceptos de complejidad, pensamiento complejo, las diferencias entre transdisciplinariedad, interdisciplinariedad y pluridisciplinariedad, los niveles de realidad y la lógica del tercero incluido, ejemplificado por medio del caso de las geometrías no Euclideas. Posteriormente, se muestra la interrelación existente entre los conceptos de complejidad y transdisciplinariedad, tomando como base los trabajos de Morin y Nicolescu. Además, se exploran las implicaciones que en materia educativa tienen los enfoques transdisciplinarios y de pensamiento complejo en los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Finalmente, se reflexiona sobre la necesidad de pasar de un pensamiento simple a uno complejo y cómo la transdisciplinariedad puede ayudar a la mejora de los procesos educativos.
