This project was supported and financed by CONARE (Consejo Nacional de Rectores). This support allowed to offer the in the 2009-2015 period, making it possible for two generations of students to graduate. Different departments of both universities participated actively and dynamically in the creation and development of the agreement, with the main objective of benefiting the population of the Atlantic area, specifically the cantons of Turrialba, Paraíso, and Guápiles, where the academic offer was expanded with the inclusion of a major oriented towards promoting the use of technology in education. Este artículo presenta los principales resultados, hallazgos y aprendizajes obtenidos de la ejecución del convenio interuniversitario entre la Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR) y la Universidad Nacional (UNA), gracias al cual fue posible impartir la carrera de Informática Educativa en la Sede del Atlántico de la Universidad de Costa Rica. Esta iniciativa se llevó a cabo gracias al apoyo y financiamiento del Consejo Nacional de Rectores (CONARE), cuyo respaldo permitió ofrecer la carrera en el período 2009-2015, con lo que se logró la graduación de dos generaciones. Para la creación y desarrollo de este convenio se contó con la participación activa y dinámica de diferentes instancias de ambas universidades, se emprendió, así, una labor conjunta con el objetivo primordial de beneficiar a la población de la zona del Atlántico, específicamente los cantones de Turrialba, Paraíso y Guápiles, donde se amplió la oferta académica con la apertura de una carrera orientada a mejorar el uso de la tecnología en el sector educativo.
