The objective was to determine the use of management strategies by the director of basic education and participation of parents in the educational process. It is a descriptive, transversal and field study, whose instrument was a questionnaire of 26 closed-questions. The sample comprised 16 directors, 52 teachers and 62 parents. For most managers and faculty the technique of brainstorming, involvement in decision-making, continues knowledge management and radical change are crucial in the educational process of children. But mothers and fathers believe that managerial groups do not use strategies properly except for reengineering. The mother and fathers are mainly involved in education management but not in the learning process. It is recommended the deepening of policy management training teaching force, through continuous training provided by the government and the promotion of family participation in the teaching-learning process of children. El objetivo de este texto fue determinar el empleo de estrategias gerenciales por el director o directora de educación básica y la participación de las madres y padres en el proceso formativo. Estudio descriptivo, transversal y de campo, cuyo instrumento fue un cuestionario de 26 preguntas cerradas. Muestra conformada por 16 personas directivas, 52 docentes y 62 madres y padres. Para la mayoría del personal directivo y su equipo docente la técnica de lluvia de ideas, el involucramiento en la toma de decisiones, la administración continúa del conocimiento y el cambio radical son cruciales en el proceso de formación de la niñez. Pero las madres y padres creen que los grupos directivos no emplean adecuadamente las estrategias excepto la reingeniería. Las madres y padres participan fundamentalmente en la gestión de la educación, pero no en el proceso de aprendizaje. Se recomienda la profundización de la formación gerencial de la fuerza directiva docente, a través del adiestramiento continuo facilitado por el Estado y el impulso de la participación familiar en el proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje de la niñez.
