The first, describe the main characteristics of a tutorial action program developed within an academic subject in a Faculty of teacher training. The second, determine the level of appraisement of the degree of importance given by students to a group of transversal skills and the kowledge level related to the research methodology during the tutorial action. The third, discuss the role of the tutorial action at the university in the new European Higher Education Area. The experience was developed in the academic year 2014-2015. Thirty six students participated and constructed two ad-hoc questionnaires. Four elements can be highlighted from the analysis of results: the interaction between participants, the perceived organization and the tutorial action methodology, the positive assessment to the development of skills related to research, and the development of critical attitude. As conclusion, it is considered that showing the process of construction and development of the tutorial action as an alternative experience in higher education and teacher training subjects, can help to clarify alternative pedagogical mechanisms to facilitate communication and participatory processes consistent with the new European Higher Education Area. En el presente estudio se plantean tres objetivos. El primero, describir las principales características de un programa de acción tutorial desarrollado en una asignatura de una facultad de formación de profesorado. El segundo, determinar la valoración del grado de importancia que el estudiantado otorga a un grupo de competencias transversales y el grado de conocimiento sobre aspectos relacionados con la metodología de investigación durante el proceso de acción tutorial. El tercero, discutir el papel que juega la acción tutorial en la formación universitaria dentro del nuevo espacio europeo de educación superior. La experiencia se desarrolló en el curso académico 2014-2015. Participaron 36 estudiantes. Se construyeron ad hoc dos cuestionarios. Del análisis de los resultados se destacan cuatro elementos: la interacción entre participantes, la organización percibida y la metodología de la acción tutorial, la valoración positiva sobre el desarrollo de habilidades vinculadas con la investigación y el desarrollo de la actitud crítica. En conclusión, se considera que plasmar en un documento el proceso de impartición de la acción tutorial como experiencia alternativa en la educación superior de las facultades de formación del profesorado contribuirá a esclarecer mecanismos pedagógicos alternativos para favorecer procesos comunicativos y participativos en la formación universitaria que estén más en sintonía con el nuevo espacio europeo de educación superior.
