The present study aimed at establishing relationships between the learning approaches, academic performance, and the academic year in a sample of students from different courses of Universidad Central “Marta Abreu”, Las Villas. For this ex post facto study, a probabilistic sample was used based on a simple random sampling of 524 university students who participated in the Study Process Questionnaire. The analysis of variance (MANOVA and ANOVA) and the analysis of clusters reported associations between a deep approach to learning and a better academic performance. These analyses showed differences in the learning approach in the different courses, predominantly a soft approach. El presente estudio se dirigió al establecimiento de relaciones entre los enfoques de aprendizaje, el rendimiento y el año académico en una muestra de estudiantes universitarios de diferentes cursos de la Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas. Se realizó un estudio ex post facto. Se utilizó una muestra de trabajo probabilística, a partir de muestreo aleatorio simple que incluyó a 524 estudiantes universitarios a los que se le aplicó el Cuestionario de Procesos de Estudio. A partir de análisis de varianza (MANOVA y ANOVA) y análisis de clústers se evidenciaron asociaciones entre un enfoque profundo en el aprendizaje y mayor rendimiento académico. Los análisis mostraron diferencias en la utilización de los enfoques de aprendizaje en los diferentes cursos, con un predominio del enfoque superficial.
