Teaching the arts is currently facing interesting challenges such as the mobility and nomad state of concepts that were key to its comprehension such as the idea of art, artist and work of art, now reformulated as artistic practices, producers and production. To better understand arts education, the principle changes from modernism to postmodernism will be reviewed. The purpose of this paper is to apply one of the latter period’s most inapprehensible characteristic to education. During my eight years of experience as a university arts professor, I have confirmed that conflict is a useful source of possibilities in the learning process, triggering an open attitude towards research. Conflict is proposed as a belief destabilizing factor, as well as a generator of a state of indetermination, essential to contemplate a broad scenario in the field Recibido 19 de junio de 2013 • Corregido 19 de abril de 2014 • Aceptado 22 de agosto de 2014La enseñanza del arte en la actualidad enfrenta retos interesantes como la movilidad y el nomadismo de conceptos que antes eran claves para su comprensión, como la idea misma del arte, el artista o la obra, ahora reformulados como prácticas artísticas, productores o producción. Para tener un estado de mayor claridad con respecto a la educación en el arte se revisarán sus principales cambios de la modernidad a la llamada posmodernidad. El objetivo de este ensayo es aplicar una de las características más inaprensibles del segundo periodo al ámbito educativo. En mi experiencia docente artística de ocho años a nivel de licenciatura, he comprobado que el uso del conflicto es útil como fuente de posibilidades de aprendizaje y como detonante de una actitud abierta hacia la investigación. Se sugiere al conflicto como factor desestabilizador de creencias, así como generador de un estado de indeterminación indispensable para contemplar un escenario suficiente del objeto del conocimiento.
