The following paper addresses, in an essay format, the topic of the emergence of a culture that includes the redeeming recreation of important elements such as freedom and responsibility from a practical point of view, as a collective life project, consistent with humanitarian ideals and values. This is an analytical paper based on questions pertaining to categories and assumptions such as leisure time, work, and capitalism, among others. The objective of this analysis is the deconstruction of myths that, in the light of the theory and the political philosophies resulting from the industrial revolution, subsume recreation as an activity. Myths do not only do this but limit recreation to time specificity, thwarting the possibility of happiness and the liberation of consciousness from a dehumanizing and dehumanized ideology. Recibido 4 de agosto de 2013 • Corregido 7 de marzo de 2014 • Aceptado 9 de abril de 2014 El artículo que se ofrece a continuación se enmarca en una línea ensayística en atención a una temática que aborda el asunto de la gestación de una cultura de la recreación reivindicadora de elementos tan importantes como la libertad y la responsabilidad desde la práctica como proyecto de vida colectivo, coherente con los ideales y valores humanitarios. Es este un trabajo analítico que parte del cuestionamiento a categorías y premisas tales como tiempo libre, trabajo, capitalismo, entre otros. La intención del artículo radica en la deconstrucción de mitos que, a la luz de la teoría de la actividad y los idearios políticos emanados de la revolución industrial, subsumen a la recreación como actividad. No solo esto, sino que la remiten a la especificidad del tiempo coartando la posibilidad de la felicidad y la liberación de la conciencia desde un ideario de trabajo des-humanizante y des-humanizador.
