State Public Policies Infrastructure services Access Estado Políticas Públicas Servicios de Infraestructura Acceso This article is aimed at contributing to the reflection and debate on the water and sanitation policies in Argentina. For this purpose, regulatory and institutional aspects are discussed regarding services management in the country. The paper also includes a characterization of the five stages of such policies that have marked the progress of the sector. Finally, the main challenges faced by the sector are mentioned as a conclusion. El presente artículo tiene como propósito central contribuir a la reflexión y al debate sobre la política de agua y saneamiento en Argentina. Para lo cual se presentan los aspectos normativos e institucionales que encuadran la gestión de los servicios en el país; se caracterizan las cinco etapas que la política ha transitado y que marcaron el devenir del sector; y por último, como conclusiones, se da cuenta de los principales desafíos que enfrenta el sector.
