Áreas Naturales Protegidas Protected Natural Area visitors tourism Protected natural areas are an effective tool for the conservation of many ecosystems. Some of these places have a tourist vocation, due to thei natural and cultural attractions. The objective of this article, is to explain the main determinants of the tourist flow of the El Pinacate and Gran Desierto de Altar Biosphere Reserve, during the period 2009-2021. Based on data from visitors to this site, as well as socioeconomic variables, a multiple linear regression model, was developed. The results show that the main determinants of the tourist flow are Tourist GDP, Health Risk (COVID), inflation and holiday periods. One of the main implications of this study is that it provides a support tool in the managment of tourism. In addition, the tourist flow for the following period can be estimated. Las áreas naturales protegidas son una herramienta efectiva para la conservación de los ecosistemas. Algunos de estos lugares tienen vocación turística, debido a sus atractivos naturales y culturales. El objetivo de este artículo es explicar los principales factores determinantes del flujo turístico de la Reserva de la Biosfera El Pinacate y Gran Desierto de Altar, durante el período 2009-2021. Con base en datos de visitantes de este lugar, así como variables socio económicas, se elaboró un modelo de regresión lineal múltiple. Los resultados muestran que los principales factores determinantes del flujo turístico son: PIB turístico, riesgo por salud (COVID), inflación y períodos vacacionales. Una de las principales implicaciones del presente estudio es que representa una herramienta de apoyo en el manejo del turismo dentro de las ´áreas naturales protegidas, toda vez que permite estimar el flujo turístico para el siguiente período.
