This work presents the experience of training a group of high school English teachers from public schools, who learn and incorporate cooperative learning as a teaching methodology in the process of language teaching, since it has been found a low implementation of this approach in the classroom. The training was conducted through our virtual classroom (UNA Virtual), so teachers could receive a quality professional tutoring without the necessity to commute and attend to the classes in person. The modules covered: theoretical aspects of cooperative learning, cooperative learning strategies and design of cooperative activities adapted to MEP’s curriculum. Once the training concluded, our high school teachers were asked about the actual implementation of cooperative learning strategies in their classrooms to substantiate and assess the training received. Time and lack of resources hampered the corresponding implementation in a significant number of teachers; however, other teachers succeeded specifically with those language skills that needed more practice. The viewpoints of this group of teachers are presented here with the objective of foretelling difficult situations that may arise in the educational process. En este trabajo se expone la experiencia vivida al capacitar a un grupo de docentes de inglés de secundaria de colegios públicos para que experimentaran e incorporaran el aprendizaje cooperativo (AC) como método áulico dentro del proceso de enseñanza de lenguas, ya que por investigaciones previas se había notado una baja implementación de esta metodología. La capacitación se realizó por medio del aula virtual de la UNA, con el fin de que este grupo de docentes obtuviera un desarrollo profesional de calidad y que no tuviera que desplazarse para asistir presencialmente. Los módulos abarcaron: Aspectos teóricos del aprendizaje cooperativo, estrategias de aprendizaje cooperativo y diseño de actividades cooperativas adaptadas al plan de estudio del MEP. Al final se le consultó a estos docentes sobre la implementación real del AC en sus aulas para corroborar y valorar la capacitación recibida. El tiempo y la falta de recursos obstaculizaron parte de la aplicación en un porcentaje importante; pero otros sí lo lograron con aquellas destrezas del lenguaje con más necesidad de práctica. Se exponen las perspectivas de este grupo docente para prever situaciones dificultosas que se puedan encontrar en el proceso educativo.
