Este artículo aborda el tema de la primera infancia y su derecho al acceso a una educación de calidad, para lo cual se hace referencia al marco jurídico mundial y nacional propicio existente y creado en un lapso de 15 años, el cual no solo ha provocado que los países fijen sus miradas en la población infantil, sino que, además, comprendan desde los aportes de las investigaciones más recientes, lo impresionante, acelerado y crítico del desarrollo infantil en los primeros años de vida. Razón que justifica la creación de opciones educativas, además de las ya existentes en Costa Rica, que atiendan a la niñez menor de 4 años y reforzar las iniciativas actuales para la población entre 4 y 6 años. This article addresses the issue of early childhood and their right to access quality education, a global and national enabling existing legal framework that has been created over a spam of 15 years is used as reference. This, which has not only caused countries to set their sights on the child population, but has also helped understand the contributions of the latest research which say how impressive, fast and critic a child’s development in the early years of life is. This justifies the creation of different educational options besides the ones existing in Costa Rica. For example, caring for infants younger than 4 years and strengthening existing initiatives for the population between 4 and 6 years.
