El presente trabajo consiste en una disertación acerca de la labor de promoción y defensa delos derechos humanos a lo interno de la universidad y de cara a la formación de profesionalesy ciudadanos que lideren una convivencia justa, tolerante e inclusiva. Se establece comofundamento la necesidad de apuntar al desarrollo del pensamiento crítico en los estudiossuperiores de modo que el contenido de cada disciplina sea integrado en una síntesis vital queabarque las diferentes dimensiones personales de quienes aprenden. En un segundo momento,se desarrolla el tema de los derechos humanos como una plataforma de negociación, ya que nopueden abordarse como presupuesto de consenso universal. Tal ejercicio negociador implicaque las sociedades se aboquen a una dinámica de crítica y autocrítica, de deconstrucción yconstrucción de paradigmas, sobre lo cual las instituciones de estudios superiores deben representarun modelo para el resto de los habitantes de las naciones.AbstractThis paper consists of a dissertation on the work of promoting and defending human rights within universities,as well as on their role in forming professionals and citizens who lead a fair, tolerant and inclusive coexistence.The need to point to the development of critical thinking in Higher Education’s establiched as a fundation,so that the content of each discipline is integrated in a vital synthesis covering different personal dimensionsof learners. In a second stage, the theme of human rights as a platform of negotiation is developed since theycannot be addressed as an assumption of universal consensus. Such an exercise implies that societies exerta dynamic of critique and self-critique, of de-construction and construction of paradigms, on which HigherEducation institutions should be a model for the rest of the inhabitants of nations.Keywordshuman rights; universities;critical thinking; education.
