The following article addresses the intervention from positive discipline as an alternative to common punitive reactions to school misconducts classified as serious and very serious, which advocates a more human approach. It is supported from a human rights perspective based on a restorative justice framework. The article emphasizes the importance of 1) fair processes centered on the student; 2) active student participation in the disciplinary processes, 3) support instead of only sanction towards students with behavior problems and 4) an approach aimed at strengthening the relationships between students with this problem and teachers who prevent or intervene the misconducts. Selected cases from a Costa Rican public school are used to illustrate the benefits of more humanized practices. The article proposes that a restorative approach is not necessarily a substitute for the usual corrective measures, but rather a more effective way to help the people considered perpetrators, assume responsibility for their actions and remain involved in the educational system, instead of isolating them to the point where they get involved in more frequent and severe misconducts. El siguiente artículo aborda la intervención desde la disciplina positiva como una alternativa a las reacciones punitivas comunes ante las faltas escolares calificadas como graves y muy graves, que aboga por un abordaje más humano. Este se respalda desde una perspectiva de derechos humanos basada en un encuadre de justicia restaurativa. El artículo enfatiza la importancia de 1) procesos justos centrados en el estudiante; 2) participación estudiantil activa en los procesos disciplinarios, 3) apoyo en lugar de solo sanción hacia adolescentes con problemas de conducta y 4) un enfoque destinado a fortalecer las relaciones entre estudiantes con esta problemática y docentes que previenen o atienden las faltas. Casos selectos de un colegio público costarricense se utilizan para ilustrar los beneficios de prácticas más humanizadas. El artículo propone que un abordaje restaurativo no es necesariamente sustituto para las medidas correctivas acostumbradas, sino más bien una manera de mayor efectividad para contribuir a que las personas consideradas perpetradoras, asuman la responsabilidad por sus actos y se mantengan involucradas en el sistema educativo, en lugar de aislarlas al punto en que se impliquen en faltas más frecuentes y severas. O artigo a seguir aborda a intervenção desde a disciplina positiva como alternativa às reações punitivas comuns perante às faltas escolares qualificadas como graves e muito graves, que defende uma abordagem mais humana. Isso é apoiado em uma perspectiva de direitos humanos baseada em uma estrutura de justiça restaurativa. O artigo enfatiza a importância de 1) processos justos centrados no aluno; 2) participação ativa do aluno nos processos disciplinares, 3) apoio em vez de apenas punição para alunos com problemas de conduta e 4) uma abordagem que visa fortalecer as relações entre alunos com esse problema e professores que previnem ou atendem as faltas. Casos selecionados de um colégio público costarriquenho são usados para ilustrar os benefícios de práticas mais humanizadas. O artigo propõe que uma abordagem restaurativa não é necessariamente um substituto para as medidas corretivas usuais, senão pelo contrário uma maneira mais eficaz para contribuir a que as pessoas consideradas perpetradoras, assumam a responsabilidade por suas ações e permaneçam envolvidas no sistema educacional, em vez de isolá-las ao ponto em que se envolvam em falhas mais frequentes e severas.
