A formal tool of knowledge is higher education and scientific research. In addition to being one of its essential goals, education is an instrument through which it contributes to improving life in society. A university that does not engage in research becomes less of a university over time. The academic staff at any institution of higher education is obligated to conduct research and record their findings. By doing so, they contribute to the growth of their alma mater and themselves, becoming a reference or source of inspiration for students in general and their own students in particular. El aprendizaje es una necesidad fundamental, el ser humano constantemente aprende, descubre, modifica o reafirma lo aprendido. Una herramienta formal del conocimiento es la educación superior universitaria y la investigación científica, además de ser uno de los fines esenciales de esta, es un instrumento por medio del cual la educación contribuye a mejorar la vida en sociedad. La universidad que no investiga es cada vez menos universidad; el personal académico de cualquier centro de estudios superiores está obligado a investigar y a dejar constancia de lo investigado; con lo que contribuye al engrandecimiento de su alma máter y de sí mismo, convirtiéndose así, en referente o fuente de inspiración de los estudiantes en general y de los suyos en particular.
