From a socio-cultural perspective, in the last twenty years an attempt has been made to offer an explanation for this problem. For this reason, this article seeks to explain social violence from a socio-historical perspective, as well as to study the solutions or criminal policies adopted by Salvadoran governments. The methodology used in this essay was of a qualitative nature, whose documentary sources have made it possible to study the phenomenon raised. El problema de la violencia ha sido un fenómeno histórico que han enfrentado las sociedades latinoamericanas y centroamericanas, ello representa una amenaza para cualquier gobierno de la región y cuyos factores causales han estado asociados a la violencia política y social, las cuales generan una fuerte cantidad de homicidios. Desde la perspectiva sociocultural, en los últimos veinte años se ha tratado de ofrecer una explicación a dicha problemática. Es por ello que el presente artículo busca explicar la violencia social desde una perspectiva socio-histórica, así como estudiar las soluciones o políticas de criminales tomadas por los gobiernos salvadoreños. La metodología utilizada en el presente ensayo fue de carácter cualitativa, cuyas fuentes documentales han permitido estudiar el fenómeno planteado.
