As is known, natural equity is an interpretive concept. And this, in Chilean doctrine, has manifested itself in the existence of three major doctrines of equity: the iusnaturalist current, the principlist current and the thesis of judicial discretion. However, these three aspects are not mere watertight spaces where the authors decide to adhere simply to one or the other, but even within these same currents there are still not minor differences when it comes to explaining the meaning and scope of the expression natural equity. That said, to carry out this work, the analytical methodology is used with the aim of distinguishing the different versions that exist within a certain conception of natural equity, as well as their deficiencies and theoretical and practical contributions. In turn, this will make it possible to define the main points of agreement between the currents, as well as to identify and discard the versions outside the very meaning of the normative provision. Finally, after this conceptual purification, the constitutive elements, indicated by Chilean doctrine, of natural equity will be established in a much more refined way. Este trabajo tiene por objetivo exponer las diferentes posiciones teóricas que se han construido en la doctrina chilena alrededor del concepto equidad natural, que se encuentra contenido en el artículo 24° del código civil –tanto chileno como salvadoreño–. Como es sabido, la equidad natural es un concepto interpretativo. Y ello, en la doctrina chilena, se ha manifestado en la existencia de tres grandes doctrinas de la equidad: la corriente iusnaturalista, la principialista y la tesis de la discrecionalidad judicial. Sin embargo, estas tres vertientes no son meros estancos donde los autores deciden adherir sin más a una u otra, sino que incluso dentro estas mismas corrientes subsisten diferencias no menores al momento de explicar el sentido y alcance de la expresión equidad natural. Dicho esto, para llevar a cabo este trabajo, se sirve de la metodología analítica con el objetivo de distinguir las diferentes versiones que existen dentro de una determinada concepción de la equidad natural, así como sus deficiencias y aportes teóricos y prácticos. A su vez, esto permitirá definir los principales puntos de acuerdo entre las corrientes, como también identificar y desechar las versiones ajenas al propio sentido de la disposición normativa. Por último, luego de esta purificación conceptual se establecerá de manera mucho más refinada los elementos constitutivos, señalados por la doctrina chilena, de la equidad natural.
