Blockchain technology can benefit many sectors, such as financial services and banking, mainly in the increasingly evolved world of cryptocurrencies, where traceability and authenticity are essential. However, it can also be useful in other sectors, such as retail and logistics in general. Therefore, the objective of this article is to examine the impact of blockchain technology in improving transparency and security in the financial sector in Panama, as it has a unique potential to revolutionize the financial sector. This has led some to ask: What are the alternatives?. Comprendiendo que la tecnología blockchain es un registro digital descentralizado de transacciones compartidas entre una red que es inmutable o inmodificable, con el objetivo de aumentar la confianza, la seguridad, la transparencia y la trazabilidad de los datos compartidos en una red empresarial, aumentando los ahorros en costos gracias a sus nuevas eficiencias. La tecnología blockchain puede beneficiar a muchos sectores, como los servicios financieros y bancarios, principalmente en el cada vez más evolucionado mundo de las criptomonedas, donde la trazabilidad y la autenticidad son fundamentales. Sin embargo, también puede ser útil en otros sectores, como el comercio minorista y la logística en general.  Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este artículo es examinar el impacto de la tecnología blockchain en la mejora de la transparencia y seguridad en el sector financiero en Panamá, ya que cuenta con un exclusivo potencial para revolucionar el sector financiero.
