For this purpose of establishing its validity or not, an effort is made to establish the necessary methodological elements for this purpose. Its application finally leads to the conclusion that it is a false hypothesis. El objetivo del presente trabajo es discutir la hipótesis, introducida por algunos sectores que hacen parte del debate nacional, de acuerdo con la cual la minería metálica debe se considerada como un posible sector estratégico para el logro del desarrollo humano sostenible en Panamá. Para este fin de establecer la valides o no de la misma, se realiza un esfuerzo por establecer los elementos metodológicos necesarios para tal fin. Su aplicación lleva, finalmente, a la conclusión que se trata de una hipótesis falsa.
