About what historiographic approach or tradition, and what theories of migration to resort to to understand the dynamic complexity of the last decades of the migration phenomenon. We start from the conviction that if the historian is historiographically based on the French Annales School, the theories of the Migratory Process and the Modernist can fit into the comprehensive study of the present of migration. The objective is to seek convergence between theory and historiography of migrations, without meaning that this is the panacea for current studies of international migration. The methodology used is documentary, since the bibliographic and newspaper review gives it theoretical, historical and contextual support Los historiadores que practican la historia del presente de la migración internacional se ven inmersos en dilemas y retos teórico-metodológicos que es necesario desentrañar. Sobre qué enfoque o tradición historiográfica, y a cuáles teorías de la migración recurrir para entender la dinámica complejidad de las últimas décadas del fenómeno migratorio. Partimos de la convicción que si el historiador se basa historiográficamente en la Escuela Francesa de los Annales las teorías del Proceso Migratorio y la Modernista pueden embonar en el estudio integral del presente de la migración. El objetivo es buscar la convergencia entre teoría e historiografía de las migraciones, sin que signifique que esto sea la panacea para los estudios del presente de la migración internacional. La metodología empleada es la documental, ya que la revisión bibliográfica y hemerográfica le dan el sustento, teórico, histórico y contextual Universidad de El Salvador.
