BIBLIOTECAS37042019-06-21T04:06:48Z In Praise of Library History Elogio de la historia de la bibliotecología Louvor pela história da biblioteconomia Alfaro López, Héctor Guillermo Library Science History Documents Information Bibliotecología Historia Documentos Información Bibliotecas, Histórico, Documentos, Informações This article points out the decrease in the historical study of librarianship as opposed to the increase in studies on technology driven by globalization and by the predominance of technicality in the discipline, although it is indispensable to retake that historical knowledge if librarianship wishes to be instituted as a field of fully scientific knowledge. Emphasis is placed on the beginnings of librarianship, from orality to the written record preserved by archives and libraries, and its close relationship to the development of the science of history. A link is also established between documents, librarians and historians in order to understand the past and the social present. Este artículo señala el decrecimiento del estudio histórico de la bibliotecología frente al aumento de estudios sobre la tecnología impulsada por la globalización y por el predominio del tecnicismo en la disciplina, aunque resulta indispensable retomar ese conocimiento histórico si la bibliotecología desea instituirse como un campo de conocimiento plenamente científico. Se enfatiza en los inicios de la bibliotecología, desde la oralidad hasta el registro escrito preservado por los archivos y las bibliotecas, y su estrecha relación con el desarrollo de la ciencia de la historia. También se establece un vínculo entre los documentos, los bibliotecarios y los historiadores para poder comprender el pasado y el presente social. Este artigo aponta a diminuição do estudo histórico da biblioteconomia em oposição ao aumento dos estudos sobre tecnologia impulsionados pela globalização e pelo predomínio da tecnicidade na disciplina, embora seja indispensável retomar esse conhecimento histórico se a biblioteconomia quiser ser instituída como um campo de conhecimento plenamente científico. A ênfase é colocada no início da biblioteconomia, da oralidade ao registro escrito preservado por arquivos e bibliotecas, e sua estreita relação com o desenvolvimento da ciência da história. É também estabelecida uma ligação entre documentos, bibliotecários e historiadores para compreender o passado e o presente social.
