The library's actions in the development of strategies for the search, location, selection and use of information brought about changes in the institutional community with respect to the role played by the library, the librarian, the book and information in the educational environment. The purpose of sharing this experience is to provide information that can motivate the staff of educational institutions that wish to venture into the field of information literacy as a support strategy in the development of skills for permanent self-learning and significant learning. Today, the library must be a proactive component in the education of students, but also of teachers, administrators and family members. This will result in a benefit for Costa Rica: the integral development of the youth and their adequate insertion in the work environment. La biblioteca del Instituto de Alajuela realizó una experiencia de inducción y formación de usuarios e incursionó en la alfabetización en información y se involucró en el quehacer del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje como parte integral del currículo. Las acciones de la biblioteca en el desarrollo de estrategias de búsqueda, localización, selección y uso de la información provocaron, en la comunidad institucional, cambios con respecto al papel que juegan la biblioteca, el bibliotecario, el libro y la información en el entorno educativo. Al compartir esta experiencia se pretende aportar información que pueda motivar al personal de instituciones educativas que deseen incursionar en el campo de la alfabetización en información como estrategia de apoyo en el desarrollo de habilidades de autoaprendizaje permanente y aprendizaje significativo. En la actualidad, la biblioteca debe ser un componente proactivo en la educación de los estudiantes, pero también de los docentes, los administrativos y los familiares. Esto redundará en un beneficio para Costa Rica: el desarrollo integral de la juventud y su adecuada inserción en el ámbito laboral. A biblioteca do Instituto de Alajuela realizou uma experiência de indução e formação de usuários e fez incursão na alfabetização em informação e se envolveu na tarefa do processo de ensino-aprendizagem como parte integrante do currículo. As ações da biblioteca no desenvolvimento de estratégias de busca, localização, seleção e uso da informação geraram mudanças na comunidade institucional em relação ao papel da biblioteca, do bibliotecário, do livro e da informação no ambiente educacional. O objectivo da partilha desta experiência é fornecer informações que possam motivar o pessoal das instituições de ensino que desejem aventurar-se no domínio da literacia da informação como estratégia de apoio ao desenvolvimento de competências para a auto-aprendizagem permanente e a aprendizagem significativa. Atualmente, a biblioteca deve ser uma componente proativa na educação dos alunos, mas também dos professores, administradores e familiares. Isso resultará em um benefício para a Costa Rica: o desenvolvimento integral da juventude e sua adequada inserção no ambiente de trabalho.
