In short, this essay is proposed as a useful guide for professionals in library science, editors, professors, students, and researchers in the fields of literature, arts, and humanities to write clearly and consistently, both within a manuscript and in the aforementioned works cited section. El trabajo aborda los distintos criterios de documentación y citación bibliográfica de la novena edición (2021) del Manual de estilo de la Modern Language Association (MLA), en el cual, además de considerar las citas dentro de un documento y la sección titulada “Obras citadas”, también explora distintas pautas en relación con el lenguaje inclusivo, las fuentes bibliográficas, las notas al final del documento, el correcto uso de la ortografía y la evitación del plagio. Este ensayo se propone como una guía útil para que profesionales en bibliotecología, editores, profesores, estudiantes e investigadores en las áreas de las letras, las artes y las humanidades puedan escribir de forma clara y consistente, tanto dentro de un manuscrito como en la mencionada sección de obras citadas.
