Therefore, a contextualization of libraries as peace-promoting entities is carried out and the project, its genesis and significance are described. Likewise, the conclusions and learning that have been obtained so far with the development of this collaborative project between the School of Biology and the School of Library and Information Sciences of the University of Costa Rica are presented. El objetivo de este artículo es dar a conocer el proyecto de acción social EC-614 de la Universidad de Costa Rica “Árboles de la paz sobrevivientes a la bomba atómica de Hiroshima: Fase 1: establecimiento de las plántulas en Costa Rica”, así como el impacto que ha tenido especialmente en bibliotecas públicas y como aporte al cumplimiento del objetivo 16, “Paz, justicia e instituciones sólidas”, de la Agenda 2030 de Naciones Unidas. Por lo tanto, se realiza una contextualización sobre las bibliotecas como entidades promotoras de la paz y se describe el proyecto, su génesis y trascendencia. Asimismo, se exponen las conclusiones y aprendizajes que se han obtenido hasta el momento con el desarrollo de este proyecto colaborativo entre la Escuela de Biología y la Escuela de Bibliotecología y Ciencias de la Información de la Universidad de Costa Rica. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar o projeto de ação social EC-614 da Universidade da Costa Rica “Árvores da paz sobreviventes da bomba atómica de Hiroshima: Fase 1: estabelecimento de mudas na Costa Rica”, bem como o impacto que teve especialmente nas bibliotecas públicas e como contribuição para o cumprimento do objetivo 16, “Paz, justiça e instituições fortes”, da Agenda 2030 das Nações Unidas. Assim, faz-se uma contextualização das bibliotecas enquanto entidades promotoras da paz e descreve-se o projeto, a sua génese e significado. Também apresenta as conclusões e lições aprendidas até agora com o desenvolvimento deste projeto de colaboração entre a Faculdade de Biologia e a Faculdade de Biblioteconomia e Ciência da Informação da Universidade da Costa Rica.
