On the other hand, it offers a glimpse into the profession of the document conservator-restorer, its functions and decision-making in their daily work. Some basic concepts about the conservation of cultural property are also developed, as well as the positions of different authors. El artículo tiene como objetivo presentar un panorama sobre los inicios del desarrollo y la formación de los conservadores-restauradores en Costa Rica desde una perspectiva histórica hasta la situación actual. Ofrece un vistazo a la profesión del conservador-restaurador de documentos, sus funciones y la toma de decisiones en su labor diaria. También se desarrollan algunos conceptos básicos sobre la conservación de bienes culturales, así como las posiciones distintos autores. O artigo tem como objetivo apresentar uma visão geral do desenvolvimento e treinamento precoce dos conservadores-restauradores na Costa Rica, a partir de uma perspectiva histórica à situação atual. Ela oferece uma visão sobre a profissão do conservador-restaurador de documentos, suas funções e tomada de decisões em seu trabalho diário. Também desenvolve alguns conceitos básicos sobre a conservação dos bens culturais, assim como as posições de diferentes autores.
