The Climate Change Team of the National Meteorological Institute, knowing the importance of this, it has been given to the task of carrying out scientific studies that can offer to the country a guide of the efforts required to adapt to the effects of the climate change. The project Capacity Building for Stage II Adaptation to the Climate Change in Central America, Mexico and Cuba, allowed to the country to have an adaptation strategy of the water resources for the noroccidental region of the Great Metropolitan Area. It highlights the study of the current and future climatic risk in this regi El agua es un bien esencial para la vida y está siendo afectada por el cambio climático. Por ello, el Grupo de Cambio Climático del Instituto Meteorológico Nacional se ha dado a la tarea de realizar estudios científicos que puedan brindarle al país una guía de los esfuerzos requeridos para adaptarnos a los efectos del cambio climático. El proyecto Fomento de Capacidades para la Etapa II de Adaptación al Cambio Climático en Centroamérica, México y Cuba, permitió al país contar con una estrategia de adaptación del sector hídrico para la región noroccidental del Gran Área Metropolitana. Destacan el estudio del riesgo climático actual y futuro en dicha región y las medidas de adaptación priorizadas en los ejes ambiental, económico y social que contempla la estrategia.
