AMBIENTALES120172019-12-05T19:34:05Z Ecotourism, Environment and Local Development in Monteverde Ecoturismo, ambiente y desarrollo local en Monteverde Acuña, Marvin Villalobos, Daniel Ruiz, Keynor Ecoturismo; Desarrollo local; Monteverde The results of a study that tried to define the potential of the natural wealth, and other determinants, in the formation and development of the ecotouristic cluster in Monteverde (Costa Rica) are presented: the successful economic use of the natural wealth of the place, the contribution of the capital in the development of the zone, the type and quality of the bonds between the economic agents and their impact in the competitivity and sustainability of the activities related with the cluster. It’s indicated to what extent the environmental management constitutes a strategic axis in this cluster and, also, the degree of articulation and relationship reached by the different activities emerged around the ecotouristic attractions of Monteverde. Also, the strengths and weaknesses of that activity are demonstrated, identifying the roll of the public policies within the framework of the individual and/or arranged actions necessary to elevate the cohesion, competitivity and sustainability of the cluster. Se presenta los resultados de un estudio que procuró definir el potencial de la riqueza natural, y otros determinantes, en la formación y desarrollo del cluster ecoturístico en Monteverde (Costa Rica): Se muestra el aprovechamiento económico exitoso de la riqueza natural del lugar, la contribución del capital en el desarrollo de la zona, el tipo y calidad de los vínculos entre los agentes económicos y su impacto en la competitividad y sustentabilidad de las actividades vinculadas al cluster. Se indica en qué medida la gestión ambiental constituye un eje estratégico en dicho cluster y, también, el grado de articulación y relacionamiento alcanzado por las diferentes actividades emergidas alrededor de los atractivos ecoturísticos de Monteverde. Asimismo, se evidencian las fortalezas y debilidades de esa actividad, identificando el rol de las políticas públicas en el marco de las acciones individuales y/o concertadas necesarias para elevar la cohesión, competitividad y sostenibilidad del cluster.
