Global warming small islands territorial planning vulnerability Calentamiento global islas pequeñas ordenación del territorio vulnerabilidad Vulnerability of small island spaces comes fromtheir lack of resources of every kind, including humanones, which sometimes turns them into passive subjectsof natural hazards and other negative contingencies,particularly those of economic and social nature. In thisregard, the shortage of space directly affects the progressand welfare of these territories, which must address thedifficult task of finding a model of sustainable developmentthat ensures an autonomous economic growth over thelong term without compromising the environment. Thispaper will discuss the need for a comprehensive planningand management of the island territories as a means toachieve these ends and, above all, as the main tool forreducing the La vulnerabilidad de los espacios insularesde tamaño pequeño deviene de su falta de recursos detodo tipo, incluidos los humanos, lo que en ocasionesconvierte a sus habitantes en sujetos pasivos de losriesgos naturales y otras contingencias negativas, sobretodo de tipo económico y social. En este sentido, laescasez de espacio incide directamente en el progreso ybienestar de estos territorios, que deben abordar la arduatarea de encontrar un modelo de desarrollo sostenible quegarantice su crecimiento económico de manera autónomaa largo plazo sin comprometer el medio ambiente. Esteartículo analizará la necesidad de lograr una gestión yplanificación integral del territorio insular como medio paralograr estos fines y, sobre todo, como principal herramientapara la reducción de la vulnerabilidad de estos espaciospequeños en materia de riesgos naturales.
