To do this, it begins by contextualizing the theory about decision-making, then three theories are described in this regard: rational theory, bounded theory, and ecological theory. Next, the way in which socioeconomic status, culture, upbringing, reason, and emotion influence decisions is reviewed. Finally, it closes with a discussion of the rationality and potential of ecological theory to guide public decisions, as well as a thoughtful conclusion. Este artículo realiza una exploración general por algunas de las teorías de la toma de decisiones más destacadas en el ámbito sociocognitivo, con el propósito de aportar análisis que sirva para clarificar las características de la toma de decisiones y la forma en que diversos elementos influyen en ellas Para ello, se inicia contextualizando la teoría sobre toma de decisiones, luego se describen tres teorías al respecto: la teoría racional, la teoría acotada y la teoría ecológica. Seguidamente se revisa la forma en que la condición socioeconómica, la cultura, la crianza, la razón y la emoción influyen en las decisiones. Finalmente, se cierra con una discusión sobre la racionalidad y el potencial de la teoría ecológica para guiar decisiones públicas, así como una conclusión reflexiva.
