In particular, we carry out an analysis of the consolidation mechanisms of national identities in New Zealand from a perspective ofthe costarican Caribbean. In this process, we underline the particularities of both social realities and the interaction with the practices and hegemonic narratives in each country. En este trabajo nos ocupamos de analizar las similitudes y diferencias sociales y culturales en los procesos de construcción de identidades nacionales en NuevaZelanda y Costa Rica. En particular, llevamos a cabo un análisis de los mecanismos de consolidación de identidades nacionales en Nueva Zelanda desde unaperspectiva del Caribe costarricense. En este proceso ponemos de manifiesto las particularidades de ambas realidades sociales y su interacción con las prácticasy discursos hegemónicos en sus respectivos países.
