This article presents the empirical and theoretical basis, as well as the practical methodological strategy (concrete steps for the implementation of the conceptual framework), in line with the interdisciplinary and intergnosis perspectives that we present here. This work expands on the main ideas in the second point, by providing an empirical description of the problem examined by this research, and thus advancing a glimpse into the complexity of the two intertwined phenomena (criminal universe and prison universe) and the failure of criminalistic and/or sociological theories concerning the causes and genesis of criminal behavior as well as the policies and measures derived from them in order to prevent, contain, and reduce it in the final analysis. The two following points, examine the main conceptual aspects that guide and define the particular nature of this project, as well the chronological planning of its practical implementation from the year 2021 until the year 2023, and also the definition of the socio-institutional sectors to whom the products of this work will be destined. Having been one of the projects awarded funding by the Fund for Research and Academic Development (FRAD) of the National University of Costa Rica, its future viability and implementation are firmly guaranteed for the two academic years from January 2021 to January 2023. During the third and last year of the project, we shall finish editing and polishing the two main products of this research, which are the collective book and an Executive Report on the topics under study; the latter product will be eventually presented at the National Assembly of Costa Rica. Este artículo presenta una propuesta de investigación interdisciplinaria y su fundamentos empíricos y teóricos, así como la estrategia metodológica práctica (pasos concretos para la implementación de la propuesta conceptual) en consonancia con la perspectiva interdisciplinaria y la intergnosis. con el fin de establecer un diagnóstico científico sobre el doble universo delictual y carcelario en la sociedad costarricense contemporánea. Y esto, con el doble objeto de avanzar en el conocimiento científico sobre el tema todo lo anterior, propicio un informe ejecutivo con sugerencias para la clase política y quienes formulan políticas públicas en relación con esta problemática. Asimismo, la metodología utilizada consistió en siete pasos metodológicos fundados en la epistemología de la interdisciplina, los cuales, se detallan en esta y otras publicaciones vinculadas. Lo anterior, permite entonces, presentar en este escrito intelectual una descripción empírica del problema que se investigará, siendo este el primer atisbo a la naturaleza compleja de los dos fenómenos enlazados (universo delictual y universo carcelario) y el fracaso de las teorías criminológicas y/o de la sociología criminal para desentrañar las causas y la génesis del comportamiento criminal, así como las políticas y medidas que se derivan de ellas para prevenirlo, contenerlo, y en última instancia reducirlo a su mínima expresión. De manera continua, se abordaron los aspectos conceptuales de fondo que guían y definen la naturaleza particular de este proyecto, así como la planeación cronológica de su implementación práctica desde el año 2021 al año 2023, y también una definición de los sectores socio-institucionales a quienes irán destinados los productos de este trabajo. Habiendo sido uno de los proyectos ganadores en el Concurso Fida (Fondos de Investigación y Desarrollo Académico) de la Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica, su viabilidad e implementación futuras quedan sólidamente garantizadas durante dos años lectivos a partir de enero del año 2021 hasta enero del año 2023.
