The article aims to disseminate the didactic strategies, conceptual bases, and conclusions that emerged from the implementation of the optional chair called Domingo de Guzmán. The methodology is based on how the Universidad Santo Tomás put into practice the working technique called hermeneutics that is applied in the places where people live. It is possible to demonstrate how this new basic exercise helps the enjoyment of learning from a humanist base. On the basis of the aforementioned chair, it was also intended to recognize the importance that communication plays in everyday life of the human being and, from this perspective, to understand that its nature is communicational, taking into account the environment in which an individual lives, in this case, the city where he lives. The optional chair called Domingo de Guzmán: The Humanistic Dimensions of Communication sought to discover, deepen and contextualize the humanist dimensions of communication. El artículo tiene como objetivo divulgar las estrategias didácticas, las bases conceptuales y las conclusiones que surgieron de la implementación de la cátedra opcional denominada Domingo de Guzmán. La metodología está basada en la forma como la Universidad Santo Tomás puso en práctica la técnica de trabajo denominada hermenéutica que se aplica en los lugares donde las personas se desenvuelven. Se logra evidenciar cómo este nuevo ejercicio básico ayuda al disfrute del aprendizaje desde una base humanista. Partiendo de la cátedra en cuestión, también se pretendió reconocer la importancia que la comunicación desempeña en la cotidianidad del ser humano y, desde esta mirada, comprender que su naturaleza es comunicacional, tomando en cuenta el entorno en el que un individuo se desarrolla, en este caso, la ciudad donde este vive. La cátedra opcional denominada Domingo de Guzmán: Las dimensiones humanísticas de la comunicación buscaba descubrir, profundizar y contextualizar las dimensiones humanistas de la comunicación.
