Despite the attempts in recent years to magnify the conflicts related to the San Juan River, driven by sectors on both sides of the border, it is imperative to develop collaboration between the two countries in order to mitigate degradation and develop a action plan for the management of the San Juan River Basin. El manejo adecuado de la Cuenca del Río San Juan y su zona marítimo-costera es una responsabilidad compartida por Nicaragua y Costa Rica. A pesar de los intentos de los últimos años, impulsados por sectores a ambos lados de la frontera, por magnificar los conflictos relacionados con el Río San Juan, es imperativo desarrollar la colaboración entre los dos países con el fin de atenuar la degradación y elaborar un plan de acción para el manejo de la Cuenca del Río San Juan.
