Qualitative research through systematic literature review was conducted to analyze the relationship that may exist between e-learning and research competency, as this field has not been sufficiently explored by including trends in educational innovation. The strategy involved searching specialized databases using Boolean formulas, wildcards, and truncators, with the purpose of constructing a new instructional proposal. The results demonstrated that the majority of studies have focused on the development of conceptual and procedural levels, lacking an attitudinal level in the acquisition of research competencies. As part of the discussion, the terms ability and competence should be recognized and differentiated, since they are mixed in the state of knowledge. It was concluded that it is necessary to define a model of research competencies that includes all levels of mastery: conceptual, procedural and attitudinal, for the integral development of these competencies. Las competencias investigativas se conocen de manera conceptual como capacidades para establecer una interacción científica entre teoría y práctica que intervienen en procesos formativos. Se realizó una investigación cualitativa mediante la revisión sistemática de la literatura con el objetivo de analizar la relación entre e-learning y la competencia investigativa, porque este campo no ha sido lo suficientemente explorado al incluir tendencias de innovación educativa. La estrategia fue una búsqueda en bases de datos especializadas con la aplicación de fórmulas con booleanos, comodines y truncadores, pues se tiene el propósito de construir una nueva propuesta instruccional. Los resultados obtenidos demostraron que el mayor porcentaje de estudios se han enfocado en el desarrollo de niveles conceptuales y procedimentales; se carece de un nivel actitudinal en la adquisición de competencias investigativas. Como parte de la discusión, se debe reconocer y diferenciar los términos “habilidad” y “competencia”, debido a que se encuentran mezclados en el estado de conocimiento. Se concluyó que es necesario definir un modelo de competencias investigativas que incluyan todos los niveles de dominio: conceptual, procedimental y actitudinal para el desarrollo integral de estas competencias.
