Based on a theoretical reflection and illustrative examples, the need to attend to virtual and non-virtual individual and collective dimensions is proposed through peace education and teaching practices to avoid the normalization of all types of violence, mitigate them and, hopefully, eliminate them from citizen experiences. Este ensayo resalta la importancia de retomar las reflexiones transformadoras que tiene la educación en, por y para la paz como respuesta a las violencias experimentadas en la sociedad costarricense, en un momento histórico en el cual pareciera que estas se quieren negar o ignorar. A partir de una reflexión teórica y de ejemplos ilustrativos, se propone resaltar la necesidad de atender las dimensiones individuales y colectivas, tanto virtuales como no virtuales, a través de la educación para la paz y las prácticas docentes con el fin de evitar la normalización de las violencias, mitigarlas y ojalá eliminarlas de las experiencias ciudadanas.
