El tema de la trata de personas como forma de esclavitud moderna, con sus más de 2 millones de víctimas, indigna cada vez más la comunidad internacional en su conjunto. Después de definir lo que son los Estados fallidos, y analizar las etapas que conducen al desmoronamiento de su estructura, el presente trabajo describe la teoría y la praxis de la trata de personas, llevada a cabo por los grupos delictivos que se benefician de la inestabilidad de los Estados de origen, y de la indolencia y hasta complicidad de los países de destino.AbstractThe international community is increasingly outraged by the phenomenon of trafficking in humanbeings as a modern form of slavery, with its more than 2 million victims. After outlining the conceptof failed States, and analyzing the steps leading to the decay of their structure, this paper describesboth the theoretical and practical aspects of human trafficking, carried out by criminal organizationsthat benefit from the instability present in States of origin, and the indolence and even complicity ofthe countries of destination.KeywordsInternational law; migration; failed States; human trafficking; slavery; organised crime.
