They are similar to honey bees, but their body peculiarities distinguish them. They visit various types of flowers to feed, but they prefer wild and domesticated species that facilitate their path to pollen and nectar. Unfortunately, despite the benefits they offer to humans, they face problems of deforestation and pesticides Las abejas sin aguijón o meliponas son polinizadoras nativas de los trópicos que cumplen un rol indispensable para mantener la vida. Son similares a la abeja melífera, pero sus peculiaridades corporales las distinguen. Visitan varios tipos de flores para alimentarse, pero prefieren las de especies silvestres y domesticadas que les faciliten el camino hacia el polen y néctar. Lastimosamente y pese a los beneficios que ofrecen al ser humano, enfrentan problemas como la deforestación y los pesticidas.
