His analytical categories are focus of different receptions. They mostly celebrate the originality of his work since he could capture the complexity of the modern societies and create an overcoming vision of the orthodox left. Ernesto Laclau, situated in the post structuralism, proposes a work in which he applauds the uniqueness of Gramsci’s work, but at the same time, he analyses certain difficulties that it interweave. He says that Gramsci goes back in the field of Marxist studies by basing his work on aprioristic notions. This paper aims to examine the reading that Laclau make of Gramsci’s work in order to think of the suitableness or not of his critics in base of two key notions: ideology and hegemony. La reflexión teórica en torno al marxismo occidental goza de plena vigencia en el mundo contemporáneo. En este contexto, el pensamiento de Antonio Gramsci ha influido enormemente en las consideraciones de dicho campo de estudio, al haberse configurado como un portavoz innovador en el ámbito del materialismo histórico. Su aporte ha sido promotor por un lado, de una renovación hacia el interior de prácticas políticas concretas, y por otro, de significativas revisiones teóricas sobre el estudio de los análisis socio-históricos marxistas. En este último plano, sus categorías analíticas han sido objeto de variadas recepciones que en general saludan la originalidad de su obra por haber sabido captar la complejidad de las sociedades modernas y generar a partir de ello un enfoque superador de la izquierda ortodoxa. En este contexto, Ernesto Laclau, ubicado en el posestructuralismo, propone un trabajo en el que aborda el pensamiento gramsciano en tiempos de crisis del marxismo. A pesar de que celebra la excepcionalidad de su obra, explora ciertas dificultades por las que al mismo tiempo atraviesa. Su tesis señala que Gramsci retrocede en el campo de los estudios marxistas al basar sus estudios en nociones apriorísticas. El presente escrito busca repasar la lectura que Laclau hace de los aportes gramscianos para reflexionar en torno a la adecuación o no adecuación de sus críticas fundamentalmente a partir de dos conceptos claves: el de ideología y el de hegemonía.
